Mount Townsend is a mountain in the Snowy Mountains (Australia). Its summit stands 2,209 m above sea level. Its prominence — how far it rises above the highest saddle linking it to a taller summit — is 189 m, and the nearest higher ground is 3.7 km away. It was first climbed in 1840.

From the lowest point within 5 km (565 m), it rises 1,644 m. The steepest side is the north-east face: 28° on average over the first kilometre. In places the ground near the top reaches 38° — terrain for climbers, not walkers.
